Storm Emeralda (M6): guide to the Japanese Pokémon set
Storm Emeralda (M6) is the sixth main set in the Japanese MEGA series, released in Japan on 31 July 2026. It marks the return of Mega Rayquaza as a Mega ex and introduces two-card Legendary Stadiums. It is also the basis for the upcoming French-language set Delta Reign (ME06), expected in November 2026.
Storm Emeralda at a glance
- Code: M6, the sixth main set in the Japanese MEGA series.
- Japanese release: 31 July 2026.
- Format: one box contains 30 booster packs of 5 cards.
- Card list: 76 numbered cards in the main list, plus the secret cards.
- French equivalent: Delta Reign (ME06), scheduled for 6 November 2026.
Mega Rayquaza ex, the star of the set
The set's name echoes the emerald-green dragon at its centre. Its Mega ex card is designed for a specific play style:
- an Ability that lets you search your deck for basic Energy;
- an attack whose damage goes up by 50 for each Fire and Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokémon.
Around it, the set offers a complete toolkit: a Pokémon Tool dedicated to Mega Rayquaza, an Item that recovers Fire and Lightning Energy, and a Supporter featuring Zinnia, the Trainer inseparable from Rayquaza in the video games. For players, it is a ready-made archetype.
Other Pokémon to watch
| Card | Type | HP |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Rayquaza ex | Colorless | 280 |
| Mega Samurott ex | Grass | 340 |
| Mega Golurk ex | Psychic | 350 |
| Mega Malamar ex | Darkness | 320 |
Four Pokémon ex complete the line-up: Heat Rotom ex, Wishiwashi ex, Raikou ex and Talonflame ex. The latter can be put onto the Bench more easily when a Colorless Mega ex is in play, making it a natural partner for Mega Rayquaza.
What's new: Legendary Stadiums
Storm Emeralda introduces Legendary Stadiums made up of two cards whose illustrations fit together. There are three in the set: a summit, an ocean trench and a lava lake, an obvious nod to the Rayquaza, Kyogre and Groudon trio.
In play, these Stadiums have a special rule: they stay in place once played, until another Stadium arrives. For collectors, you need both halves to complete the full image, which adds a fun goal when opening.
The secret cards
Beyond the 76 cards in the main list, the secret cards offer alternative-art versions of Pokémon and Supporters, including a special version of Zinnia's Supporter. There are also new Special Energy cards linked to the Grass, Fire and Water types. As always, pull rates are not officially disclosed: no box guarantees a specific card.
Storm Emeralda or Delta Reign: which to choose?
- Storm Emeralda if you want the set now, in the compact Japanese format, with the presentation unique to Japanese cards.
- Delta Reign if you prefer French-language cards, legal in official tournaments in France, and a list expanded with extra cards.
Note: with only 5 cards per pack, opening Japanese product is quicker, but a box of 30 packs still means 150 cards to discover, for a main list of 76 cards.
Many collectors buy both, one to open and one to keep. Our Delta Reign article covers the French version, and our Japanese or French booster box guide explains the differences. The Storm Emeralda box and booster packs are in the Japanese Pokémon catalogue: add them to your request list to check availability.
